Congratulations to the staff and students of Valley Center High School on earning the Standard of Excellence
in both Math and Reading during the 2008-2009 school year!


          

 
Mission  Statement:

"The mission of Valley Center High School is to educate all students,  
regardless of learning ability, ethnic origin,
or economic status."
 


Valley Center seniors consistently score above the state and national averages on the ACT exam.

• Approximately 92% of VCHS graduates go on to college or other post-secondary school.

• VCHS teacher named as Kansas Horizon Award winner for outstanding first-year teaching in 2005.

• VCHS choir received the Award of Excellence at regional contest (2006) and the Award for Superior at regional contest and Excellence at state contest (2005).

• 15 VCHS students participating in Wichita area honor bands/orchestras (2006). Five students selected to South Central District Honor Band sponsored by Kansas Music Educators Association (2006).  There has been at least 1 band member representing VCHS in the All-State Festival Band at the KMEA convention for the last 20 years.  7 students selected to the KMEA South Central District Honor Band/Orchestra (2007).  10 VCMS & VCHS participated in the Wichita Wind Ensemble (2007-2008).  5 VCHS students playing in the Wichita State University Band Festival (2008).

District Activities/Athletic Director:

• Eight VCHS students recognized in the past six years for outstanding achievement in the National Merit competition.

• VCHS wrestling team was the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Champions (2004-2009), Regional Champions (2005), placed third in the state (2005), and fifth in state (2008).  They have an overall record of 150-37 in the past 11 years and have consistently had over 50 wrestlers out each year.

• VCHS volleyball was AVCTL co-champions (2005) and sub-state champion (2004 & 2007).

• Boys cross country team went to state (2004). Girls’ team was league champion (2004) and placed sixth in the state (2004).

• The men’s baseball team was sub state champions 2008 and placed second in state 2001

The women's basketball team was sub state champions (2003-2004), AVCTL undefeated league and sub state champions (2004-2005) with a record of 22-0.

• Seven VCHS students were National qualifiers in speech/debate and forensics since 2002.

• Consistent placement of 12-20 VCHS students in state forensics competitions annually.

• Multiple high school awards: FCCLA- top three placements in STAR events, at State and National level for Power of One. DECA- annual national qualifiers.
